| SERVING FORT WORTH FOR SIXTY YEARS (817) 244-9335 |
My father, AB “Jack” Nantz, started AB Electric in 1951 when my twin brother and I were only 2-years-old. Working out of our two-car, detached garage proved a bit challenging for the business . . . and for my mother. |
AB Electric quickly grew with both residential and commercial work, a fleet of trucks and many apprentices and journey men.
My brother, sister and I grew up with Dad rushing off to work every morning. Sometimes he’d take me and my brother Andy to work with him. Before we got to the shop, we’d often stop for coffee at the local drug store. One day, an old man came up and asked dad, “how much for those boys?” Dad laughed and said, “I wouldn’t take a million dollars for these two, but I won’t give a nickel for a one more.”
Andy and I grew up “helping” around the shop – cleaning up trucks, organizing materials and sometimes going on service calls. I guess it was natural that after a brief stint in the Marines I returned to Fort Worth to continue the family business.
AB Electric relocated to my garage near TCU. Working days and studying nights, I passed the Master Electrical Exam in 1976, the same year my first daughter was born. Andy joined the business shortly thereafter and we were soon busy with service calls and commercial projects.
Nearly 25 years later, my son – Alex – joined me in the family owned venture and contributed to the growth of the business. With an eye for detail, Alex always keeps the customer, and the end product, in mind.
Today, it’s 34 years (and two grandkids) later and AB Electric is still thriving and staying true to its roots as a family owned business focused on the customer and end product. Some of our projects include more than 200 Dollar General Stores, Reeves Development, Ray Garcia, Paragon Construction, and Bradford Builders.
